The International Folklore Festival “Ponte do Mouro and Alvarinho” is an effective member of C.I.O.F.F. (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art, which belongs to UNESCO) since November 2006, C.I.D. (International Dance Council) since 2005 and I.O.V. (International Organization of Folk Art) since 2004.
The festival has a growing success due to the high level of invited groups, the great organization and the atmosphere of friendship among the groups and the population of Monção. The shows in Monção take place in Deu-la-deu Square with 1.500 seats and a huge area around to see the show standing up. In the same square each group has the possibility to set up a table and sell handcraft, CD’s, etc. showing to the public the region where it comes from.
Meals and accommodation are in a High School 8 km away from Monção.
