Arcos de Valdevez is a Portuguese small town in Viana do Castelo District, Northern Portugal and Minho-Lima sub-region, with around 2.200 inhabitants. The municipality has an area of 445.89 Km2 and 24 466 inhabitants, subdivided in 51 parishes. It is limited by Monção, Melgaço (Northeast), Spain (East), Ponte da Barca (South), Ponte de Lima (West and Southeast) and Paredes de Coura (West).

Caminha is a Portuguese town in Viana do Castelo District in northern Portugal with about 2.500 people. The Caminha municipality has 129, 66 km2 and 17 069 inhabitants (2001) divided in 20 parishes. The town borders Norwest Vila Nova de Cerveira, West Ponte de Lima, South Viana do Castelo, North Spain and East the Atlantic Ocean.

Ponte de Lima is a Portuguese town in Viana do castelo District in Northern Portugal with 2 800 people. It is characterized by its rustic architecture and by the surrounding area bathed by the Lima River. It is the municipality headquarter with 321.20 km2 and 44 343 people (2001) divided in 51 parishes. It borders North Paredes de Coura, East Arcos de Valdevez and Ponte da Barca, South-east Vila Verde, South Barcelos, West Viana do Castelo and Caminha and North-West Vila Nova de Cerveira. It received the “foral” (royal document) by the Queen Theresa on 4th March 1125 being the oldest town in Portugal.

Ponte da Barca is a Portuguese town in Viana do Castelo District with 2 300 people in northern Portugal. It is the municipality headquarter with 184.76 km2 and 12 909 inhabitants (2001) divided in 25 parishes. In the North it borders the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, East Spain, South Terras de Bouro and Vila Verde and West Ponte de Lima. It received the “Foral” in 1125 by the Queen Theresa.

Melgaço is a Portuguese small town in Viana do Castelo Disctrict, Northern Portugal and Minho-Lima sub-region, with around 1 300 inhabitants.The municipality has an area of 239.04 km2 and 9.996 inhabitants, subdivided in 18 parishes. It is limited in the North and East by Spain, Arcos de Valdevez in the Southeast) and West by Monção. It’s the most Northern municipality in the country.

Monção is a Portuguese town in Viana do Castelo District in Northern Portugal with approx. 2.600 people. It is the municipality headquarter with 211.51 km2 and 19 957 people divided in 33 parishes. It borders North Spain, East Melgaço, South Arcos de Valdevez, South-east Paredes de Coura and West Valença.

Vila Nova de Cerveira (known frequently only as Cerveira) is a Portuguese small town in Viana do Castelo District, Northern Potugal and Minho-Lima sub-region with around 1 300 inhabitants. The municipality has an area of 108.46 km2 and 8 852 inhabitants, sub-divided in 15 parishes. It’s limited by Valença in the Northwest, Paredes de Coura in the East, Ponte de Lima in the Southeast, Caminha in the Southwest and Galicia in the Northeast. Its main parish is Campos, since it’s there where the two industrial poles are located and they develop and give dynamism to this municipality and also to the neighbouring ones.

Barbeita is a Portuguese parish of the Monção municipality with 753 km2 and 1 057 people (2001). Population density: 140.4 inhabitants/km2. It is the Barbeita Folklore Group headquarters – the organizer of this festival.
