Monção
Monção is known by Deu-La-Deu legend, baths and “Alvarinho” wine since the 16th century when the British imported through Viana harbour the Monção red wine - which they called “Eager Wine” - along with linen cloth, honey, wax and rope. When they came back ships returned with codfish.
It seems that British didn’t like this badly bottled wine at first. That is why they send coopers who taught people from Viana their special technique.
